National Trail Ride Award Program

The MFTHBA Trail Ride Committee's primary purpose is to promote the Missouri Fox Trotting horse as the ideal trail horse, and, secondly, to promote and encourage organized trail rides of all types and trail riding in general. One way to accomplish these goals is to sanction National MFTHBA sponsored trail rides. The objective with the National Trail Rides is to make these unique and special to attract riders outside the area sponsoring the ride.

Criteria for National Trail Rides

  1. Ride must be at least two days.
  2. Ride must be sponsored by MFTHBA or an affiliate.
  3. A $5.00 fee will be collected for each rider if co-sponsored by a for-profit organization.
  4. Each affiliate may sponsor one ride annually and co-share sponsorship on additional ride with another affiliate.
  5. Each request for approval requires a written application with the following information:
    1. Contact name and phone number from sponsoring affiliate.
    2. What facilities are available for horses (corrals, stalls, highline, etc.)
    3. What facilities are available for campers (hook-ups, electric, water, etc.)
    4. What eating facilities (restaurant, catering, none, etc.)
    5. Other - number riders expected, info about trails, terrains
    6. Follow up report - providing summary information, number of riders, problems, and plans for the future.
