MFTHBA Announces Changes to the MFTHBA DQP Program

MFTHBA Board approved the following changes to the MFTHBA DQP program on May 12, 2015. Exhibitors should also review the MFTHBA Handbook for more information on this program.

Multiple penalties will run consecutively and not concurrently

Suspensions

For the violations listed. Any individuals who are responsible for showing the horse, exhibiting the horse, entering the horse or allowing the entry of the horse in show or exhibition, selling the horse, auctioning the horse, offering the horse for sale or auction must be suspended. This may include, but may not be limited to, the manager, the trainer, rider, custodian, or seller as applicable. In addition, if the owner allowed any activity listed in this paragraph, the owner must be suspended as well.

A Clarification to Exhibitor Conduct-Practices discouraged or allowed:

Unruly exhibitor conduct that interferes with a DQP inspection will result in an interference of inspection violation.

Shoeing

The use of shoes, other than standard shoes is to be discouraged and the horse in violation thereof will be disqualified. Shoes generally weigh 10 oz. A #1 shoe toe weight is 16 oz a #2 toe weight is 18 oz and a #3 toe weight is 21 oz. The set allowable weight for each shoe shall not exceed twenty-one ounces (21oz). With no additional weight or weights allowed. The use of pads, except rim pads is not acceptable, and the rim pad shall be weighed along with the shoe. The combination of the shoe and pad shall not exceed 21 ounces. Inspection of shoes for weight compliance at the Show & Celebration in Ava, MO will be performed on the World Grand Champion performance class winner, 1st and 2nd places.

Saddle Protocol:                           

Exhibitor when presented will loosen the girth on the saddle at the discretion of the DQP
